Carson Dunlop's Horizon is sunsetting on December 15, 2026, and the questions come in faster than the answers. Frequently asked questions
When does Horizon shut down?
December 15, 2026. Carson Dunlop's headline is "Horizon is Sunsetting on December 15, 2026," and the export tools stop the same day.
When was the shutdown announced?
July 27, 2026, on the InterNACHI forum. Spectora's FAQ says inspectors should begin planning their migration as soon as July 28.
Why is Carson Dunlop retiring Horizon?
In its own words: rather than continuing to split its investment, it is bringing in a partner whose company is built around software and concentrating on what it has always done best. That partner is Spectora.
Is there an automatic migration?
No. Carson Dunlop's sunset page says plainly: "You choose your path. There is no automatic migration." You pick where to go and you move your own data.
What are my options according to Carson Dunlop?
Three, in its own headings: Migrate to Spectora, Move to a different platform, or Continue using Horizon until sunset.
Does Horizon keep working until December 15?
Yes. Carson Dunlop states "Horizon stays fully operational through December 15, 2026" and that your subscription terms continue as agreed through to sunset.
What happens to my data after December 15, 2026?
Access ends. The Spectora migration FAQ says "After this date, the data will no longer be accessible." Carson Dunlop then securely deletes the information.
Can I get a refund if I leave Horizon early?
Yes, prorated to full months unused, with no refund for partial or remaining days. Request it under Profile, then Settings, next to Refund Request. It may take up to 20 business days.
Where are Horizon's export tools?
Under the Profile section of your account, in the Export Centre. Export options are available there through December 15, 2026.
What can I export from Horizon?
The Export Centre offers CRM Agents, CRM Clients, Inspection Bookings Data (work orders), Company Templates, Dashboard Data, and Tax Reporting Data. Save your finished reports as PDFs too.
Are large exports instant?
Not always. Large exports are prepared in the background, so start early rather than in the last week, when everyone is exporting at once.
What is the one file inspectors forget to export?
The comment library. It never lived as its own file, so it is the easiest thing to miss and the hardest to replace. Make it its own line on your checklist.
What is Spectora's Horizon offer?
$55 a month for 6 months (regular $109), or $545 for the first year (regular $1,090). Standard pricing applies after the intro period. The offer expires January 31, 2027.
What does Spectora's one-click migration move?
Company information, users and team members, agents and brokerages, clients, configuration settings, and your comment library with its systems, categories, observations, defects, recommendations, and limitations.
What does one-click migration not move?
Per Spectora's FAQ: historical inspection reports, historical work order data, report PDF files, inspection photos and attachments, third-party integrations, payment connections, and existing subscriptions.
Does my comment library arrive in my own words?
It arrives converted. Spectora says your comments are converted from Horizon format to Spectora format, and offers AI Comment Assist to rewrite and refine your language afterward.
What do I pay Spectora after the intro period?
Spectora's regular pricing on the offer page is $109 a month or $1,090 a year. Compare year two, not just month one.
What are the other replacements offering Horizon users?
Hive Inspect: $50 a month for 6 months or $500 the first year. InspectorData: a 30-day free trial, then $79 a month. SwiftReporter: $99 a month, no special Horizon price. Property Vision: free until November 1, 2026, then $79 a month or $799 a year. All from their own pages, September 2026.
What does Mach One Reports offer Horizon inspectors?
With proof of a Horizon subscription: 30 days free, then $79 a month or $799 a year, shown before you pay. No contract. Export and leave anytime. That is the rate, not an intro rate.
When does the Mach One rescue rate end?
February 15, 2027, deliberately after Spectora's January 31. That is our deadline, not Horizon's. Export before December 15, 2026 no matter where you go.
Will my reports still sound like me on Mach One Reports?
Yes. We import your comment library in your exact words and leave the wording alone. You speak on site and the report fills in from your own saved comments, matched by voice.
Do I have to rebuild my comment library?
No. We import your existing library, reading 7 common file types, unchanged. On either rate, one of our people does the import and the template rebuild with you on a call during your free 30 days.
Does Mach One Reports work offline?
Yes. It keeps working with no signal in crawlspaces, attics, and basements, and syncs when you are back in range.
Can I switch before December 15 without losing a job?
Yes. Start now while Horizon still runs, trial a replacement on a real inspection, and have your new account set up before you let Horizon go. Moving early is the whole trick.
What should I do this week?
Export a complete copy of everything from Horizon, put your comment library on the list as its own file, open the files to confirm they are complete, then trial one or two replacements. Do not wait for December.
Will my InterNACHI SOP template setup carry over from Horizon?
Yes. Your template structure imports as it is, sections and all, so the InterNACHI standards layout you built in Horizon stays the layout of your Mach One report. A Horizon user asked this on InterNACHI in 2022; the answer is the same now.
Horizon had no narrative library and few templates. Does the replacement fix that?
Bring your own library in and it becomes a narrative library the day it lands. You speak on site, Mach One matches your words to your own saved comments, and the narrative is written in your voice, not a stock list.
"I hate subscription software with no way to stop paying the vendor." Can I leave Mach One?
Yes. Cancel inside the app at any time, and export your comments, templates, reports, and photos in plain files before or after. No contract, no per-report fees.
Do I own my data on Mach One, or is it pay to play?
You own it. Your comments, templates, and reports export whenever you want them, in plain files. An InterNACHI inspector put it as "I own it" about desktop software; cloud does not have to mean giving that up.
Horizon's photos were thumbnails with no editing. What changes?
Photos attach to the sentence you spoke, full size, on site, with annotation on the phone. Nothing waits for a desktop step.
